Sailing through Lava
Gywnn O’Gara
Salt light, bottom feeders.
The rattan of worn-out alliances
catches fire in little pieces.
Infusing the currents,
microscopic Godzillas circle.
Our redwood board smolders.
Bullies pirate silence,
burn rope for heat,
torch homesteads.
Rafters of ospreys, moan-timbers.
Our driftwood house chars, the knots
of love songs cinders.
Stitched to saltwater,
drifting on hunger,
bandages flake to ash.
Our saliva sizzles.
You smuggle joy into my rill,
flake my mica into gold.
